ERIE, Pa. – Three Mercyhurst wrestlers remain undefeated heading into the second day of the NCAA II Super Region I Championships and four others survived the consolation rounds as seven total Lakers remain alive in their quest to advance to the national championship meet in Houston, Texas on March 13-14. 

Michael Baxter, Andy Lamancusa and Josh Shields all have unblemished records and will compete in the semifinal s beginning at 10 a.m. 

In team scoring, Mercyhurst sits in fifth place with 30 points behind leader Newberry (71), Pitt-Johnstown (53), West Liberty St. (39.5) and Gannon (33.5). 

At 133, Baxter received a first-round bye, then defeated UNCP's Mike Nash, 10-7. Lamancusa, in defense of his 2008 title and in search of his third-straight regional title also received a first-round bye before posting a major decision over Newberry's Sean Byrnes, 20-7. 

The nation's top-ranked grappler at 165, Shields posted two major decisions as he advanced, winning 9-0 over Quade Miller of Seton Hill before winning against Anderson's Trevor Sanford, 12-1. 

At 125, Payne Lint, posted a fall over Kutztown's Clayton Youtz before adding a technical fall over St. Andrew's Presbyterian Matt Fletcher in the second round of consolations. 

Lenny Calhoun survived a tough 4-3 decision against UNCP's Brandon Bradley to advance at 149 while Matt Mix and Nathan Sharp also advanced.
