WALTHAM, Mass. – The Mercyhurst College men's hockey team scored a season-high six goals as the Lakers thumped Atlantic Hockey foe Bentley, 6-2, on Saturday evening at the Ryan Skating Arena. With the win, the Lakers move to 2-5-1 on the season and 2-1-1 in league play. Bentley, meanwhile, falls to 2-3-0 overall and 2-1-0 in AHA action.
Six different players found the back of the net as the Lakers scored two goals in each period. Junior
Steve Cameron and freshman
Grant Blakey led the offense with a combined five points. Cameron scored a goal and added two assists while Blakey lit the lamp and added a helper. Senior

Patrick Goebel and freshman
Charlie Carkin rounded out the scoring with a goal each.
Mercyhurst built a 2-1 lead in the first period with goals at the beginning and end of the frame. Carkin put the Lakers up 1-0 when he connected off an assist from sophomore
Kevin Noble at the 3:02 mark, while Cameron broke a 1-1 tie with his fourth goal of the season at 16:15.
Goebel opened the second with his first collegiate goal at 2:23, followed by Coccimiglio with an unassisted strike on the power play at 10:43. With the goal, Coccimiglio extended his goal-scoring streak to three games and his point-streak to five.
Blakey and Fennell closed out the third with back-to-back goals just two minutes and 58 seconds apart at 15:31 and 18:29.
Junior
Ryan Zapolski recorded the win with 23 saves. Mercyhurst outshot Bentley 32-25 and converted 2-for-7 on the power play. The Falcons finished 1-for-7 with the extra skater.
Mercyhurst returns home next weekend to host Canisius in the Lakers home opener on Friday, Nov. 6 at 7:05 p.m. at the Mercyhurst Ice Center.
