California, Pa. – The Mercyhurst College volleyball team saw its run in the 2008 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference postseason tournament come to an end as Lock Haven handed the Lakers a 3-0 setback Friday evening in California, Pa.

The Bald Eagles swept head coach Ryan Patton's squad by the scores of 25-15, 25-23 and 25-15 to advance to the PSAC Championship game on Saturday.

Mercyhurst (21-14) tallied 23 kills for the match, with eight of them coming courtesy of senior Lauren Kubinski. Senior Jenna Matson produced seven while sophomore Katie Fritz added six. Junior Julia Butler dished out 21 assists. Sophomore Kendall Ashworth anchored the defense with 16 of the team's 34 digs.

Mercyhurst will now wait and see if the Lakers, who are ranked fourth in the region, earn a bid to the 2008 NCAA Division II Volleyball Championship. Check back at www.hurstathletics.com for further details as they become available.
