Amherst, N.Y. - The Mercyhurst women's volleyball team improved to 15-8 on the year by defeating Daemen in a non-conference match Thursday 25-14, 25-20, 23-25, 25-20. The victory was the Lakers' sixth in a row.

Seniors Jenna Matson and Lauren Kubinski combined for 23 kills, 13 from Matson, and Justine Smith kept Daemen from getting its offense clicking by posting six blocks. Libero Kendall Ashworth had 16 digs and setter Julia Butler handed out 31 assists.

Daemen fell to 7-18 on the year with the loss. Mercyhurst will have the weekend off before hosting Houghton Tuesday at 7 p.m.
