Arlet enters his fifth season with the Lakers, in 2022. Arlet comes to MU after a two-year stint as the head coach of Bethany College in Bethany, W. Va.
He has over ten years of collegiate soccer coaching experience, including seven inside the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.
2021 was a historic season for the Lakers as they went 14-6-1 and won the PSAC West regular season championship for the first time in program history, Following the PSAC Tournament the Lakers made their first NCAA Tournament since 2008. Three members of the squad were chosen as United Soccer Coaches All-Region Players while also having the first Mercyhurst USC All-American Player. The Lakers took home three of the four PSAC West Awards as Maddie Elbro was Defender of the Year, while Emily Mijares was Rookie and Player of the Year.
In the spring of 2021 the Lakers played a exhibition season and went 4-1-3 after their championship season was canceled due to COVID-19.
In 2019 he led the team to a 11-6-2 overall and 10-6-1 conference record. The Lakers made it to the First Round of the PSAC Tournament where they fell 2-1 to Edinboro. Mercyhurst finished the regular season with a five-game win streak. It was the Lakers first PSAC tournament appearance in six years. Three Lakers earned All-Region Honors in Arlet's second season at the helm.
In 2018 the Lakers went 8-9-1 overall and 6-9-1 in conference play. Arlet led the Lakers to a six point improvment in his first season while also winning three more games then 2017.
Arlet is a native of Erie, Pa., and graduate of McDowell High School. He went on to play collegiate soccer and earn Academic All-Region honors during his time at Wheeling Jesuit University in Wheeling, W. Va.
At Bethany, Arlet coached his team to the program's highest win total since 2011. Bethany finished sixth in the Presidents' Athletic Conference – its highest placement in the league standings since 2011 as well.
Arlet's defining moment during his tenure at Bethany involves the Bison's 1-0 win over Thomas More in 2017. That victory ended TMC's 55-game unbeaten streak in conference play.
Prior to coaching the Bison, Arlet was a graduate assistant for Clarion University's women's soccer team (2009-10); an assistant for two seasons for the Denison University women's soccer team in Granville, Ohio (2011-12); a volunteer assistant with the Bethany men's soccer team for one season (2013); and then an assistant for two seasons as women's assistant coach at Lock Haven University (2014-15).
Arlet graduated from Wheeling Jesuit in 2009 with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting before earning a Master's of Business Administration degree during his two years at Clarion.
Arlet resides in Millcreek with his wife Danielle, daughters Charlie and Libby, son Mauro, and dog Leo.
