Kyle Foote, a native of Omaha, Nebraska, has served as a Volunteer Coxswain Coach for Mercyhurst Women’s and Lightweight Men’s Rowing since Fall 2015. Foote’s full-time job is as a Lead Sales Operations Specialist at General Electric Transportation in Erie, Pennsylvania. He has lived in Erie, Pennsylvania since graduating from Purdue University (West Lafayette, Indiana) in 2012 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering.
Foote began his rowing career at Purdue University in 2008 as a Coxswain on the Men’s Novice and Varsity Heavyweight and Lightweight teams. Major accomplishments include 3 Silver Medals at the American Collegiate Rowing Association (ACRA) Championships, a Silver Medal at the San Diego Crew Classic, and 3 appearances in the Finals at Dad Vails.
Foote has a unique position with the rowing team as a Coxswain’s Coach, which is an uncommon offering amongst collegiate rowing programs. He is focused exclusively on the development of coxswain’s abilities both on and off the water to teach how to identify and fix core issues in the boat, how to make the most effective calls, and how to maintain the most competitive environment for the rowers using optimal steering and race plans.
