O'Grady joins the Laker staff for the upcoming 2014-15 season and will serve as a volunteer assistant coach.
O'Grady comes to Mercyhurst after graduating from John Carroll University in May of 2014. While there, he served as the assistant hockey coach for the school's American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) program. He aided the head coach with the team's on-ice practice plans and drills and he also coordinated the team's off-ice workout regiments, both in- and off-season.
He also was the head of the program's community outreach and marketing efforts, focusing on fundraiser, social justice, special event, and donation management.
During his undergraduate studies, O'Grady was also a volunteer goaltender coach with Gilmour Academy's Girls Prep Hockey Team.
Among other jobs, O'Grady served as an intern with the American Collegiate Hockey Association, was a student athletic trainer, and was an intern in student strength and conditioning. He also spent nearly three years with the Cleveland Hockey Alliance, serving as the Summer Hockey Academy Director, the Learn-To-Play Director, and as a goaltending coach.
He graduated from John Carroll with a degree in exercise science and will be taking Master's classes while at Mercyhurst. He will additionally serve as a graduate assistant in the archaeology department for Mercyhurst University Provost, Dr. James Adovasio.
