Steadman, who is a 2012 alum of the University, enters her fourth season with the Lakers during the 2020-21 season.
Steadman, a native of Plattsburgh, N.Y., had a successful career as a Laker. In 140 games, she totaled 78 goals and 54 assists for 132 total points. She is no stranger the success surrounding the Mercyhurst program as a whole, having been part of four consecutive College Hockey America regular-season-championship teams (2008-12). During that time, the Lakers won three CHA Tournament championships and made four NCAA Tournament appearances. Mercyhurst advanced to the Frozen Four twice (2008-09, 2009-10), including a runner-up placement in 2009-10.
The Lakers hope the infusion of an alum like Steadman will help sustain the success that has resulted in 16 conference regular-season championships, 13 conference tournament titles, 11 NCAA Tournament bids and three Frozen Four appearances.
During her senior season with the Lakers, Steadman was named CHA Player of the Year as she led the conference in goals. She was also named to the All-CHA First Team and was a Patty Kazmaier Top 30 nominee. While Steadman was in the program, the Lakers had a 113-23-6 overall record. She received a Bachelor's degree in elementary education.
After her graduation from Mercyhurst, Steadman played four seasons of professional ice hockey and five years with the United States National Team. She was a member of the Clarkson Cup champion Boston Blades of the Canadian Women's Hockey League (2012-13), the European Cup champion Moscow Tornado in the European Women's Hockey League (2013-14) and the Isobel Cup champion Buffalo Beauts of the National Women's Hockey League (2016-17). She was the Championship Game MVP during each of her teams' championship runs. In international play, Steadman had won two World Championships gold medals while playing for the USA (2013, 2011).
Most recently, Steadman played two seasons with the Beauts and was a two-time NWHL All-Star Game captain. She led the Beauts in scoring in 2015-16, ranking second in the league. She was the league leader in goals per game and points per game.
Steadman also spent three seasons as an assistant in the Robert Morris women's ice hockey program -- one year as a volunteer assistant and two years as the director of hockey operations (2014-17). The Colonials were 2017 CHA champions. While there, Steadman earned a Master's degree in instructional leadership from RMU.
