Mercyhurst University Athletics

Delaney Collins

Delaney Collins returns for her fifth season with the Mercyhurst University women’s hockey program. As an assistant coach, Collins is responsible for coaching the offense as well as recruiting, travel arrangements, and video coordination.

During her first three years, the Pilot Mound, Manitoba, native helped the Lakers continue their NCAA-record ten-year playoff streak and the team made its fourth trip to the NCAA Frozen Four in 2014. In July of that year, Collins was honored by being named assistant coach on Canada's National Women's Under-18 Team.

Despite winning 23 games last season and capturing the College Hockey America (CHA) regular season title, the Lakers bowed in the conference playoffs and were denied an 11th straight NCAA postseason appearance.

Prior to joining head coach Michael Sisti’s staff, Collins played in five International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) championships, winning three gold medals (2000, 2004, and 2007) and two silver (2005 and 2008). She also appeared in six 3 Nations/ 4 Nations cups from 2000-2007. In 2007, Collins was named Manitoba Female Athlete of the Year.

Collins played two seasons (2003-2005) at the University of Alberta, leading the Pandas to the 2004 CIS Championship. She was named an All-Canada West and CIS First-Team All-Canadian both seasons. Additionally, she was a member of the 2005 CIS National Championship All-Star Team. During her tenure, the Pandas went 63-1-0, and were a perfect 40-0-0 in conference play.

Collins currently resides in Erie, Pa.
