Sarah Hansen enters her first season as the graduate assistant coach for the women's basketball team in 2017. Hansen is a graduate of General McLane HS and Florida Gulf Coast University and currently enrolled in Mercyhurst’s Secondary Education Graduate Program. Most recently she has been substitute teaching full time.
Coach Hansen played professionally for two seasons; one in Finland and the other in Switzerland. Both seasons she led her team in multiple statistical categories, including points, rebounds, and steals. At Florida Gulf Coast, Hansen's collegiate career flourished, as she went from making the Atlantic Sun Conference Freshman team in 2011 to becoming the Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Year in 2012-13 and 2013-14. She was team captain in her junior and senior seasons and led the Eagles to 110-22 overall record and a 79-5 conference mark during her four seasons. She also excelled in the classroom, as she was named a Capital One Academic All-America Second-Team member in 2012-13 among many other conference and FGCUÂ student-athlete accolades.Â
