Komendarek joined the sidelines for the Lakers prior to the 2022-23 season after spending five seasons as a player for Mercyhurst.
In her first season as a coach for Mercyhurst, the team proved to be one of the better three-point shooting units. The team shot 36.8% as a team from deep to lead the PSAC while coming in eighth in the country. The team relied on a handful of shooters to help with the mark as there were four players with a three-point percentage of 37% or higher while attempting 50 or more shots from long ranges.
During her playing days, the Lakers amassed a record of 47-81 with her playing in a total of 120 games while scoring 602 points and grabbing 406 rebounds. She enjoyed her best season in the 2020-21 campaign when she averaged 10.5 points and a team-high 7-1 rebounds. She had nine games in which she scored 10 points or more while having two games of 21 for a season-high, having double-digit rebounds in both performances.
