Keith Cammidge

Keith Cammidge was named the head coach of the men's soccer team in 2002 and immediately made an impact on the program. In seven years as the head coach, his programs have finished .500 or better six times, advancing to the NCAA semifinals and winning four GLIAC Championships.

In 2008, Cammidge guided the men’s team to a 9-6-2 record, including a 3-3-2 mark in the PSAC in the Lakers’ first year in the conference. Mercyhurst was ranked as highly as No. 7 nationally during the season, and remained in postseason contention throughout the campaign.

Prior to his time at Mercyhurst, Cammidge was the head coach at NCAA Division I programs at Northeastern, Drexel, and North Carolina-Wilmington.

Cammidge has an extensive background at the collegiate, Olympic Development, and regional levels of soccer. He has been awarded Coach of the Year honors several times at the conference level and has served on the NCAA Division I Regional and National ranking and tournament committees.

He has had an immediate impact on the Mercyhurst programs. He guided the Lakers to the national semifinals in Virginia Beach, Va. in 2002. The men received their first ever national No. 1 ranking during the season and finished with a final mark of 17-2.

As the top ranked team in the Great Lakes region, the Lakers finished the 2003 regular season at 15-3-0. Mercyhurst received a bye to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, only to tie Findlay 0-0. The Oilers eventually won in a penalty kick shootout.

Mercyhurst had another outstanding season in 2004, finishing with a 14-3-2 overall record and a 3-1-1 slate and a first place finish in the GLIAC. The Lakers finished 8-8-4 in 2005 with only two seniors on the squad, but went 6-1-1 down the stretch.

In 2006, Mercyhurst returned to dominance, posting a 17-4-0 mark and winning the GLIAC title by 3 1/2 games with a 9-1-0 conference campaign. The GLIAC Championship was the 10th in 11 years for the program. The Lakers also advanced to the NCAA playoffs, losing to Southern Illinois Edwardsville in the opening round. The nine-win improvement was the largest single-season turnaround in program history.

After losing a large senior class, Mercyhurst went 7-10-3 in 2007 with a 5-4-1 conference mark.

Cammidge earned a bachelor's degree in physical education and exercise physiology from Boston University and a master's degree in sports management from Northeastern.

He played his collegiate soccer as a midfielder at Boston University and was a member of the 1980 NCAA Tournament team and 1981 ECAC championship team.

Cammidge is also a national licensed coach through the United States Soccer Federation and English F.A.

He was born in London, England, and is married to the former Maureen Daly. They have a son, Ryan, and two daughters, Kelly and Clara-Rose.
