Tyresha (Ty) Barnes joined Mercyhurst as the Director of Student Athlete Success in July 2025.
Prior to Mercyhurst, Barnes served as an admissions counselor at Erie County Community College, helping lead recruitment initiatives and develop strategic outreach programs to increase enrollment.
Barnes graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Media in 2016 and is finishing her Master of Science in Sport Management at PennWest University currently.
Barnes started her professional career as a classroom teacher in 2015, working at Erie Rise Leadership Academy and spent eight years there until she moved into a role as an admissions counselor at Adams and Associates in June 2023.
Barnes currently resides in Erie.
