Vince Laise

Vince Laise will be entering his second season on the Laker coaching staff at Mercyhurst University. Vince brings a wealth of knowledge, assisting MU players with their development needs, focusing on character and team building, video analysis, and analytics. He also plays a crucial role in recruiting future MU players.

Prior to his time at Mercyhurst, Vince spent nine seasons as an assistant, associate, and head coach with two Ontario Hockey League (OHL) organizations. In the OHL, he was responsible for coordinating system and skill development, offensive schematics, and the power play. Vince's coaching tenure included winning a league championship and helping guide the team to the national tournament, The Memorial Cup. He contributed to the development of thirty-two NHL-drafted players, including six first-round selections, most notably Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers.

Vince played for the University of Maine Black Bears and graduated with a degree in Education in 2008. During the 2006 and 2007 seasons, he contributed to two NCAA Frozen Four appearances. Before his time with the Black Bears, Vince was the captain of his Jr. A hockey club, the Georgetown Raiders, and ranks in the top 35 all-time point leaders in the program’s history.

Vince resides in Erie, PA, with his wife Annie and their children Stella, Violet, and Ruby.
