Trisha DiMatteo

Trisha DiMatteo enters her seventh year on the Mercyhurst University Athletic Training staff in 2022-23. She has primary coverage with the Men's Ice Hockey team. Additionally she oversees the medical care for Mercyhurst's three ACHA club hockey teams and is an adjunct faculty member in the Sports Medicine program.

Trisha comes to Mercyhurst from Maryville College in Tennessee where she was the athletic trainer for football and women’s basketball. A native of West Palm Beach, Florida, DiMatteo has a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. While at Tennessee, DiMatteo worked with the Lady Volunteer volleyball, rowing, and track and field teams. She also interned one season with the Knoxville Ice Bears Hockey Team. In 2015, Trisha earned her Master’s degree in Athletic Training from Florida International University in Miami, Florida.

Most recently, she earned her Doctor of Athletic Training (DAT) degree in Dec 2022 from Florida International University. During her education she was a doctoral research assistant in the Florida International University Global Initiative for Cannabinoid Research & Education. Her doctoral capstone projected investigated the global perception and awareness of the DAT degree.

In Summer 2022, she worked with USA Football Women’s Tackle Team earning a gold medal with the team at the IFAF World Championships in Vantaa, Finland.

Academy of Sports Medicine as a Corrective Exercise Specialist and Certified Nutrition Coach
Practitioner Certifications in IASTM, Kinesiology Tape and Myofascial Cupping through RockTape.
