Joe Causgrove

Joe Causgrove returns to the Lakers as an Assistant Coach ahead of the 2024-25 season after spending parts of three years with Mercyhurst before.

Causgrove has most recently spent time with now NEC foe, Saint Francis, with him serving as the Director of Basketball Operations for the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons, helping coordinate travel, equipment, meals, and camps. Causgrove then transitioned to Assistant Coach for the Red Flash ahead of the 2023-24 campaign before rejoining the Laker’s ranks for the new year.

Causgrove came to Mercyhurst University after spending three seasons coaching at the High School and College levels. In his two seasons at Prep he served as an assistant coach for both the Freshman and Varsity Teams. The team managed to win the District 10 Championship and advanced to the PIAA playoffs. Last season Causgrove served as a Student Assistant Coach for Penn State Behrend. He was named the Junior Varsity Head Coach and Varsity Assistant for the Lions. The team finished the season 23-5, captured the AMCC championship and made a trip to the Division III NCAA Tournament. Causgrove graduated from Behrend with a Bachelor’s degree in  Project and Supply Chain Management.

Causgrove who is an Erie product, graduated from Cathedral Prep back in 2014. He was a three year letterman and team captain during his senior season for the Ramblers basketball team. Joe then went on to play one season at Penn State Behrend for Coach Dave Niland. The Lions went 23-4 that season, winning the regular season AMCC Conference championship. Causgrove was recognized for his academic performance that season being placed on the Academic All-AMCC Team.
