Jacob Laravie

Jacob Laravie joins Gary Manchel’s staff after being a four-year letterman on the Pittsburgh-Johnstown’s men’s basketball team. The Kettering, Ohio, native graduated in April 2017 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and minor in Economics. Laravie will now attend Mercyhurst University’s Organizational Leadership graduate program.
 
Laravie led the Mountain Cats to a 19-11 season as a senior captain, which is the most wins for the UPJ program since the 2008-09 season when they reached the NCAA Tournament.
 
Laravie played in 109 career games, averaging 7.12 points per contest. He had a .465 career field goal percentage, .395 career three-point field goal percentage and a .908 career free throw percentage.

As a senior, he finished sixth in the NCAA for assist/turnover ratio (3.32). Laravie also finished second in assists per game (3.1) on a team which led the nation for the same category (20.5). On Feb. 4, 2017, Laravie became the UPJ record-holder for both three-pointers in a game (11) and assists in a game without a turnover (10) against Edinboro, which earned him PSAC West Player of the Week honors.
 
The summer prior to joining the Laker staff, Laravie interned at the Las Vegas NBA Summer League. In addition, his uncles Jim and John Paxson, and grandfather, Jim Paxson Sr., are former NBA players.
