Mercyhurst University Athletics

Zach Conowal joined Mercyhurst University in April of 2023 as the Linebacker coach. Fall of 2023 will be his first season with the Lakers.

Previously, Conowal served two seasons as the Special Teams and Recruiting graduate assistant and one season as a defensive student assistant at Georgia State University. At Georgia State, Conowal helped the Panthers to back-to-back bowl victories in 2020 and 2021. In his time, he helped coach 2022 All-Sun Belt Honorable Mention Michael Hayes and placekicker Noel Ruiz who received an NFL minicamp invite. As a student assistant in 2020, he assisted a defense that ranked nationally in sacks, tackles for loss, and turnovers.

A native of Dawsonville, Georgia, Conowal played football and graduated from Dawson County High School in 2018. Conowal would go on to earn his bachelor’s degree in marketing at Georgia State University graduating in May of 2022.
