Matt Melle is in his first year on the Mercyhurst football staff. He will work with the outside linebackers.
A 16-year veteran of the high school coaching ranks, Melle started his coaching career at Gilmour Academy (Ohio) and Eastlake North (Ohio) before becoming the head football coach at Villa Angela-Saint Joseph (Ohio) in 2007 where he was named North Coast League Coach of the Year.Â
In 2009, Melle became an assistant at Cathedral Prep where the program had three final four appearances and a state championship in 2012. In 2014, he became an assistant at McDowell High School where he currently teaches English/Language Arts.
Melle is married to his wife Melissa and has four children: Vanessa (12), Matthew Jr. (11), Alexa (7) and Benjamin (6). They reside in Fairview.
