John Harrison returns for his second year with the Mercyhurst football team and will serve as the quarterbacks coach.
Harrison came to Mercyhurst after spending one season at Villanova University as an offensive assistant and tight ends coach. Prior to his position with the Wildcats, Harrison spent one season with the University of Chicago and served as the wide receivers coach. He helped Chicago to its first winning season in three years and guided two wideouts to All-Conference selections.
At Villanova, Harrison helped the Wildcats to an 11-3 overall record in 2014 and a trip to the FCS Quarterfinals where they lost to Sam Houston State, 34-31. It was just the fourth time in program history that Villanova had posted at least 11 victories in a season.
As a player, Harrison was a four-year starting quarterback at Franklin and Marshall where he garnered second team All-Centennial Conference honors in 2009 and 2010.
He is the Centennial Conference career and single-season record holder for touchdown passes, completions and completion percentage. He also holds numerous Franklin and Marshall records, including career touchdown passes, passing yards, pass completions, completion percentage and total offense.
Harrison was also a three-time Dean’s List honoree and earned a degree from Franklin and Marshall in 2012 in Business, Organizations, and Society.
