Altizer assumes the position of Pass Game Coordinator and Defensive Backs Coach for the 2024 season.
Altizer previously spent the 2021 and 2022 seasons with Mercyhurst as a Graduate Assistant in 2021 while being lifted to the role of Defensive Backs Coach for the 2022 campaign, helping the Lakers rank second in the PSAC in pass defense. After spending 2023 at his alma mater, Old Dominion, Altizer returns to Erie looking to once again establish the team's secondary as one of their strengths as they join the NEC.
in 2021, Altizer made his was to Lawrence Tech University as a Graduate Assistant and Assistant Academic Coordinator, helping teach secondary schemes as well as scouting the opponent. In the summer of 2021, he joined Mercyhurst for the first time with him assuming the role of Graduate Assistant, overseeing the coaching of the safeties.
Altizer began his time on the sidelines during the 2018 season with Old Dominion where he served as a student assistant through the 2020 campaign. During his time with ODU, Altizer worked alongside the Quarterbacks Coach to help formulate schemes against opponents as well as act as the defensive signal caller for the 2018 season.
Altizer currently resides in Erie.
