D.J. Myers is in his first year as the wide receivers coach for the Mercyhurst football team. He brings a great amount of playing experience to the Laker staff, having spent the past two seasons at Midwestern State, which plays in the Lone Star Conference.
As a player, Myers was MSU's 2017 Offensive MVP, accumulating 40 receptions for 638 yards and seven touchdowns. He also had a rushing touchdown. Myers led Mustang receivers in touchdowns (7), yards per catch (15.9) and yards per game (63.8). He was named All-LSC for the Mustangs, who finished 10-1 and ranked fifth on D2Football.com.
Prior to joining Midwestern State, Myers spent two years at Lackawanna in Scranton, Pa. He was an All-Northeast Football Conference honoree for the Falcons. He had 25 catches for 355 yards and seven TDs in 2015 as Lackawanna ranked third in the NJCAA.
Myers competed professionally with the Albany Empire of the Arena Football League in 2018. Prior to his indoor career, he earned opportunities to work out for various NFL teams including the Los Angeles Rams and Dallas Cowboys.
Myers has an Associate's degree in Science and Liberal Studies from Lackawanna (2015) and a Bachelor's degree in psychology from Midwestern State (2018).
A native of Woodbridge, Va., he graduated from Forest Park High School in 2012.
