Men's Soccer Set to Host Canisius Saturday Night

MERCYHURST (1-2-1) vs CANISIUS (0-3-0)

Saturday, Sept. 5 – 6:00 p.m.
Erie, Pa. – Saxon Stadium
TV: NEC Front Row

The Mercyhurst Men's Soccer team is set to host the Canisius Golden Griffins on Saturday, September 5th, at 6 PM at Saxon Stadium in Erie, PA. Fans who cannot attend in person can watch the game live on NEC Front Row, and enjoy free admission to the stadium for an accessible and engaging viewing experience.

Mercyhurst Lakers

The Lakers are coming off a competitive match against Detroit Mercy, where they secured a 2-2 draw. Noteworthy performances in that game included Alvar Silva, who contributed four shots and scored the Lakers' first goal at home this season, and Jackson Chiocco, who netted his first career goal to tie the game.

Canisius Golden Griffins

Canisius enters Saturday's match still searching for its first win of the season, sitting at 0-3-0 after losses to Le Moyne (0-1), Robert Morris (0-1), and Cleveland State (1-3). The Golden Griffins have struggled to generate offense, managing just one goal on 11 shots through three games while opponents have outshot them 32-11 and outscored them 5-1.

Sophomore forward Noah Baumslag has been the offensive spark for Canisius, leading the team in goals (1), points (2), shots (5), and shots on goal (3). His lone goal came in the Cleveland State game, the Griffins' only tally of the season so far. Beyond Baumslag, the offense has been quiet — no other player has found the back of the net, and the team has zero assists on the year.

In goal, Preston Harold has started and played every minute for Canisius, posting 8 saves on 32 shots faced for a .615 save percentage, but carries an 0-3 record and a 1.67 goals-against average. Defensively, the Griffins have also picked up 5 yellow cards and a red card through three matches.

With Mercyhurst looking to build on its recent draw and Canisius still hunting for its first result of 2026, Saturday's matchup gives both sides a chance to shift the early-season momentum.

Broadcast and Attendance Information

For those unable to make it to Saxon Stadium, the match will be available for viewing online via NEC Front Row. Spectators attending in person can enjoy the game with no admission fee, making it a great opportunity for the local community to support the Lakers.

This matchup promises to provide exciting soccer action as Mercyhurst looks to enhance their season record. Be sure to attend or tune in to see how the Lakers perform against the Golden Griffins.
