ERIE, Pa. — Mercyhurst (1-5-0) lost to Wagner (1-6-0) with a final score of 3-0 on Friday. The Lakers were held to two shots and none on goal, while their goalkeeper made eight saves as Wagner finished with 30 shots and 11 on goal. The game was part of Mercyhurst's homecoming weekend.
 
Wagner generated the early pressure in the first quarter, with a shot hitting the post at :41 and taking a penalty corner at 1:00 that led to a blocked shot. Wagner put another attempt wide at 4:03, while the Lakers did not record a shot during the quarter. Wagner added two penalty corners at 11:24 and at 14:44, but the teams reached the end of the quarter scoreless at 0-0.
 
Wagner built the first scoring sequence of the second quarter off back-to-back penalty corners, scoring at 17:51 to put Mercyhurst behind 1-0. The Lakers pushed back midway through the quarter, earning penalty corners at 21:35 and 21:53 while Rachel Kosowski had a shot blocked and Lola Williams sent an attempt wide. Victoria Campana made saves at 25:30, 28:09 and 28:11, but Wagner scored off an assist at 28:20 to give them a 2-0 lead. Wagner added a late penalty corner and two shots in the final minute, and the Lakers went to halftime trailing 2-0.
 
The Lakers spent much of the opening minutes of the third quarter defending Wagner pressure, as the visitors earned three penalty corners from 31:26 to 31:34 and put three shots wide. Anna Muscat generated the Lakers' lone penalty corner of the quarter at 34:17, but Wagner continued to create chances, including a shot that was blocked, two shots wide, and an attempt saved by Campana at 36:58. Campana added another save at 39:36 during a late Wagner sequence that included three penalty corners and two blocked shots. Wagner received a yellow card later in the quarter, and the score remained 2-0 Wagner through 45:00.
 
After an early attempt wide, Wagner scored at 48:03 to put them up 3-0. The Lakers faced more Wagner pressure, with Campana saving two shots around a pair of penalty corners. Campana added a save off a 58:48 penalty corner, and the quarter ended without another goal as Wagner finished with a 3-0 win.
 
Campana recorded eight saves in 60 minutes in goal. Rachel Kosowski and Lola Williams each finished with one shot for the Lakers.
