ERIE, Pa. — Mercyhurst secured a 7-2 victory over Central Connecticut State on Sunday. The Lakers recorded 11 hits and seven stolen bases, maintaining control throughout the game.
Logan Koslin singled and later scored on a sacrifice fly by
Mike Samarin.
Zachary Kourous reached base and later scored on
Jayden Walker's single, giving the Lakers a 2-0 lead after the first inning.
In the third inning, the Lakers added another run. Kourous walked and advanced to third before scoring on a single by Walker, extending the lead to 3-0.
The fourth inning saw Mercyhurst increase its lead to 5-0.
Ranciel Ventura and Kourous both reached base, and Samarin delivered a two-RBI double, driving in both runners.
The Lakers added two more runs in the seventh inning.
Jack Malec walked and scored on a single by
Darek Staudt, who then scored on a throwing error by the catcher, making it 7-0.
CCSU scored twice in the ninth inning. They reached on a fielder's choice and scored on a hit by pitch, while also scoring on a sacrifice fly, closing the gap to 7-2.

Andrew Malec delivered an impressive performance, pitching eight innings while allowing just three hits and no earned runs, striking out five batters and issuing three walks in his outing. He needed 112 pitches to navigate through the game, recording 65 strikes, and secured a win with a 3-1 record.
