LANCASTER, Pa. — The Mercyhurst flag football team ended day one of the NCFFL Pennsylvania Regional with a 1-1 record. The Lakers downed St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) 13-0, but fell to Siena Heights, 33-7.

GAME ONE VS. ST. JOSEPH'S (BROOKLYN) (13-0, W)
The Lakers made a defensive statement in game one, shutting out St. Joesph's, 13-0.

Ellie Schau found
God'iss Santos in the endzone early in the first half to put the Lakers up 6-0.

The Mercyhurst defense stood tall in the opening half, giving the Lakers the advantage at the break.

Early in the second half, Schau once again found Santos in the endzone, extending the Lakers lead to 13-0.

Alexis Summers helped secure the win with a interception with under five minutes to play in the game.

GAME TWO VS. SIENA HEIGHTS (33-7, L)
The Saints took an early lead in game two, pushing them to a 33-7 win over the Lakers.

After going down 13-0, Mercyhurst responded with a touchdown, marching down field. Schau capped off the drive with a rushing touchdown and a successful extra point.

The Saints kept the pressure on through the second half, holding the Lakers scoreless. They added on to their lead, eventually winning 33-7.

The Lakers continue the NCFFL Tournament tomorrow against Delaware and Rutgers.
