Mercyhurst will get their first taste of Division I March Madness Wednesday, March 4 as they host the Knights of FDU in their first NEC playoff appearance. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. EST. The Lakers will meet the Knights for the third time this season, the Lakers most recently coming off a road win at Stonehill that secured them the third seed in NEC standings. Mercyhurst most recently met Stonehill Saturday, February 28 as they traveled to New England to wrap up the regular season. The Lakers and Skyhawks went into overtime for the second time this season, the Lakers sneaking by this time to secure the win 75-72.
Bernie Blunt III led the team in points scoring 24. He also grabbed four steals, dished one assist, and grabbed three rebounds. Blunt III continued his efficient shooting at the free throw line going 13-14 from the charity stripe.
Jake Lemelman scored 20 points in the matchup, dished two assists, and had three rebounds. Most notably, he went 3-4 from three and 5-5 from the free throw line.
Qadir Martin continued to pace the Lakers on both ends of the court scoring 12 points and grabbing seven boards. Martin also had three blocks.
