ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst STUNT team hosted East Stroudsburg and Aquinas this afternoon as they celebrated the graduating class on Senior Day. The Lakers led for the entirety of both games. They defeated ESU 27-16 in the first game. Game two was an eight-round game vs. Aquinas, and the Lakers won, 12-0.
Mercyhurst faced East Stroudsburg in the first game. The score was close for the first two quarters. The Lakers selected routine five in the first round of the first quarter and executed it near perfectly to take their first lead. The Warriors then won the second round with routine three. By the end of the quarter, MU led 4-2. The Lakers held on to their advantage before the half, despite forfeiting routine four in the fourth round of the pyramids and tosses quarter. The score was 7-4 at halftime.
In the second half, the Lakers pulled away with the scoring. They were nailing their jumps and tumbles and earned two points in almost quarter through routines one, three, and four. They then earned a point in almost every round of the team routine quarter and beat the Warriors, 27-16.
The second game was an eight-round game vs. Aquinas. The Lakers nailed all their partner stunts, pyramids and tosses, and jumps and tumbling in each round. They earned one point in every round, with routines one and two, and defeated the Saints, 12-0.
The Lakers will compete in the MAWC Championship beginning April 10.
