Lakers Drop Game Two of Doubleheader to Skyhawks

EASTON, Mass. — Mercyhurst fell to Stonehill with a final score of 15–5 on Sunday at game two of Sunday's doubleheader. Despite two home runs from the Lakers, Stonehill capitalized on a ten-run sixth inning to secure the victory.

Mercyhurst secured an early lead in the first inning with Zachary Kourous singling to left field and subsequently scoring on a groundout by Jayden Walker. Riley Ames' walk and stolen base set up his own run via a groundout, followed by Dana Williams hitting a solo home run to left field. The Lakers led 3-0 after the first inning.

In the second inning, Zach Black extended the lead with a solo home run to left field. Despite Mercyhurst placing runners on base through a walk and an error, the inning concluded with no further scoring. The lead grew to 4-0.

The fourth inning saw Mercyhurst capitalizing on a failed pickoff attempt and an error, allowing Logan Koslin to reach third base. Riley Ames then delivered a sacrifice fly, bringing home Zach Black for an unearned run, increasing the lead to 5-0.

Stonehill closed in during the fifth inning, scoring two runs off a single and a series of walks, narrowing the margin to 5-2.

The sixth inning marked a turning point as Stonehill erupted for 10 runs, benefiting from multiple walks, a wild pitch, and a series of hits. This surge propelled them to a 12-5 advantage.

Stonehill added three more runs in the seventh inning, with the Lakers unable to respond. Stonehill maintained its momentum to secure a decisive 15–5 victory over the Lakers.
