NASHVILLE, Tenn.  – The Mercyhurst STUNT team, currently ranked fifth in the nation, competed in the Music City Classic hosted by Trevecca Nazarene. They played No. 4 UT Martin, a fellow member of the MAWC, and beat them 30-28 in OT. In game two, they played No. 1 California Baptist and fell, 27-3.

In game one, Mercyhurst faced No 4 UT Martin. The game was electric. These two teams were competing as competitively as they could. The Lakers held a small lead in the team routine quarter, and it was definitely close. Both teams were excelling in the partner stunts and jumps and tumbling portions. The Lakers lead in the final round, but UT Martin tied it up and sent the two to OT. This was the first time MU has went to overtime in program history. With everything on the line, the Lakers showed they are a top-five team in the nation by earning five points and securing the victory, 30-28.

In the second game, the Lakers competed against No. 1 Cal Baptist. The Lancers were dominant from the very beginning, earning points in each round. MU earned their first point in the final round of the pyramids and tosses quarter, and the score was 9-1 at the half. In the final round, Mercyhurst was able to salvage a point, but CBU pulled away and won 27-3. The Lancers are now 21-0 on the season.

The Lakers will begin day two tomorrow as they resume conference play vs. No. 6 Missouri State. The first routine is set to begin at 11:35 AM EDT and viewers can find the live stream on Flo College.
