ERIE, Pa. — The Mercyhurst women's basketball team secured a 68-55 victory over Stonehill at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center.
Cici Hernandez posted 24 points on a career-high eight 3-point makes. Hernandez is the second Laker to make eight 3-pointers in a game this season with
Lena Walz doing it against Saint Francis Feb. 14. Eight 3-pointers in the most in a game since at least the 2011-12 season.

Mercyhurst (13-15, 13-4 NEC) opened the quarter by quickly gaining a 2-point lead with a jumper from
Sofia Wilson, assisted by
Sophia Kelly at 8:26. However it was a defensive battle in the opening frame.
Erica Hall's fast-break layup in the final 33 seconds secured a 9–8 lead for the Lakers after the first 10 minutes of play.

The Lakers seized momentum early in the second quarter with Van Schaik's fastbreak layup at 9:31, igniting a strong offensive push. Hernandez further extended the lead with four consecutive 3-pointers, pushing the lead to 10 with 4:54 to play in the half.
Lena Walz and Wilson contributed with key assists, helping the Lakers maintain control.

Stonehill (11-17, 7-10 NEC) called a timeout at 5:35 in an attempt to regroup, but the Green and Blue's continued defensive pressure and timely steals, including two by Walz, thwarted Stonehill's efforts. The quarter concluded with the Lakers leading 35–24.

Mercyhurst extended its lead in the third quarter with a critical 3-pointer by Hernandez at 8:06, followed by another from her at 7:14, both assisted by Wilson and Hall respectively.

Hernandez was pivotal throughout the quarter, adding a third 3-pointer at 1:41 and contributing significantly on defense with multiple steals. Despite Stonehill's attempts to close the gap, the Lakers maintained control and ended the quarter ahead, 54-40.

Mercyhurst maintained its lead despite a strong challenge from Stonehill in the final minutes. Van Schaik's critical free throws at 5:21 and 0:18 helped the Lakers stay ahead. Wilson contributed with a key layup at 0:40, solidifying the team's advantage. Mercyhurst improved to 13-4 in NEC play, keeping their hopes for the two seed in the NEC Tournament alive.
