DEWITT, N.Y. – The Mercyhurst men's tennis team traveled to the Syracuse area to take on the Le Moyne Dolphins in their first NEC matchup of the season. After a pair of close battles against Cleveland State and Youngstown State, the Lakers were looking to secure their first win of the year on the road.

In singles competition,
Danylo Rekun won his opening set 6-2 and battled throughout the rest of his match, but ultimately fell 6-4 and 7-6 with a 7-5 tiebreaker. Up next,
Lukas Cabue Valverde fell 6-2 before returning with a commanding 6-4 win, but fell in his final set 6-1.
Petar Belosevic fell 6-3 before battling back with a pair of 6-3 victories, earning the first singles win for the Lakers.
Colm Schultz fell in his match 7-5 and 6-3.
Mykhailo Polishchuk came out on top in a close 7-6 opening win before falling 6-4 the next time around. In the final set, Polishchuk came away with the 2
nd Mercyhurst win by a score of 6-4. Nikola Radisic rounds out the Laker singles matches, winning 6-4 before falling 7-5. Radisic was also able to rebound and come away with a resounding 6-2 win.

In doubles competition, the team of Belosevic/Schultz fell in their match 6-0 while the team of Rekun/Cabue came away with a 6-4 win.
Raul Davalos and Radisic took their doubles match to the edge with a narrow 7-5 victory.

The Lakers earned their first win of the season by a score of 4-3, bringing their conference record to 1-0.

The Blue and Green will next travel to Hamilton, N.Y. to take on Colgate Sunday, March 1.
