Game Two
The Lakers won in three sets, 25-14, 25-23, and 25-15 to complete the sweet against the Crusaders.
In the first set, the Lakers were contributing heavy on offense, from key aces to timely digs, to timely kills.
Roslyn Guerra,
Julia Shepherd,
Payton Melin,
Andrea Zaric,
Kaitlin Murphy and
Sydney Forcht were able to contribute kills to spark the offense. The Lakers also had a .867 hitting percentage as a team as well.
In the second set, the Lakers picked up where they left off, continuing their offensive prominence. This set was more challenging for them, but they did not back down from the fight. For both teams' first 10 points, they were going back-and-forth, making it an exciting match to watch. Even towards the end, it got down to the wire, but a diligent touch of a kill by
Andrea Zaric helped lead the Lakers to take set two.
In the third set, the Lakers continued the offensive resurgence by scoring five straight points, with four of them coming from
Anna Logan. She had two kills and two aces helping the Lakers go on a 5-0 run. The Lakers were also able to take advantage of Holy Cross' serving errors as well. Eventually,
Jessica Wilson was able to seal the win with a kill with the assist coming from
Sydney Forcht.
The Lakers continue their tournament play tomorrow when they play St. Peters at 10:00 a.m. and Holy Cross at 2:00 p.m.
