ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's soccer team couldn't secure the win in their second home game of the year Sunday afternoon, as the Lakers fell to Duquesne 6-0. Goalkeeper
Rylee Kumer made her first collegiate start for the Lakers, recording 11 saves on the day.
Kumer made her first save of the game just 58 seconds in action. The Lakers started out strong with a chance in front of the net in the third minute of play, but were couldn't capitalize on the opportunity.
Duquesne scored two goals in the first 10 minutes of play. They opened their scoring in the sixth minute off a corner and found the back of the net again in the ninth minute.
Kumer kept the Dukes quiet for the next 35 minutes, making eight saves throughout the half, including a high diving save over the crossbar in the 15
th minute.
The Dukes came with intensity in the second half, scoring the first of four goals in the half just three minutes in. Kumer and the Lakers fought off nine total shots in the half.

Madison Sievering putting two dangerous crosses into the box forcing the Dukes' goalkeeper to come off her line.
The Lakers are back at home Thursday Aug. 28 at 5:00 p.m. to take on Niagara.
