Softball Slated to Close Season at St. Bonaventure

St. Bonaventure, NY- After playing in their final conference series this past weekend, the Mercyhurst Softball team is set to finish the season with a doubleheader against St. Bonaventure University. This is the fourth and fifth meeting between the two sides this season. 

Lakers' Form 
Mercyhurst is 5-32 on the season and 3-18 in conference play. This past weekend, they picked up their third NEC win of the season in an 11-10 thriller against Le Moyne College where four players hit a home run. The Lakers currently have three players with a batting average above .300. Jazlynn Sanders, Eliza Reynolds, and Lauren Henrich. Sanders has 31 hits, 20 RBIs, seven home runs, and an OPS of 1.066 in 94 at bats this season. Reynolds has 40 hits, 23 RBIs, a slugging percentage of .520. Henrich has much fewer at bats, but still has 18 hits, nine RBIs, and four home runs. Henrich has hit three home runs in the past week and earned the NEC Rookie of the Week honor yesterday. These three are likely to create a lot of offensive play on Thursday. 

Scouting the Bonnies 
St. Bonaventure is currently 9-33 on the season and 4-18 in the Atlantic 10 Conference.  Their most recent series was trio of heavy defeats to Saint Louis University, who is on a 14-game win streak and sits atop the A10 Conference. Two of the Bonnies best hitters this season are Kymora Wang and Kendall Stull. Wang has 43 hits, 39 RBIs, and three home runs this season. Stull has 39 hits, 27 RBIs, and 2 home runs this season. Both of them have a batting average above .320 and will be two players to watch tomorrow afternoon. 

Comparing the Two Sides
The Lakers currently have 21 home runs this season, compared to the Bonnies, who have just eight. This is the fourth and fifth meeting between these two. Earlier in the season, St. Bonaventure beat Mercyhurst 14-6 in the East Tennessee State tournament. The Lakers then won a doubleheader over the Bonnies in their first home games of the season. They won 3-2 in game one and 6-5 in game two. Both teams currently sit at the bottom of their conferences and they each have three players with batting averages above .300 with at least 50 at bats.
