Syracuse, NY – Today was the final NEC game of the Softball team's first season at the Division I level. Yesterday, the series was split by a dominant Le Moyne win and a triumphant victory for Mercyhurst in game two. Today was a low scoring game compared to yesterday's thriller. The Dolphins held the Lakers to just one run as they picked up a 4-1 victory.
How it Happened
Jazlynn Sanders recorded the first hit of the game with a single between the 5-6 gap. However, she was left on base. The Dolphins were the first to get on the board. Audrey Benderski hit a two-run shot down the left field line that cleared the deck. On the next play, Elaina Kassap homered down the right field line which gave Le Moyne a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second.
Eliza Reynolds and
Shailene Riemedio got things going for the Lakers in the top of the third. After Riemedio reached first base on a single, she stole second during the next at bat. Reynolds hit an RBI double to bring her home and cut the deficit to two. The score was 3-1 heading into the fourth after the Laker defense quickly retired the Dolphins lineup in the bottom of the third.
Le Moyne added to their lead on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fourth. From there, their defense held up and only allowed three hits as they won this one 4-1.
