Erie, PA- The Mercyhurst Softball team is set for a series against Saint Francis University in their last games before Easter. The Red Flash are the defending NEC champions, but the Lakers have steadily improved throughout the season as the weather gets nicer and players recover from injuries.
Laker's Form
Mercyhurst is currently 4-25 overall and 2-13 in the NEC. The Lakers defeated CCSU in game two of a tough series loss this past Saturday.
Jazlynn Sanders and
Eliza Reynolds have still been performing at their best for the Lakers and will be key players for this series. Sanders has 23 hits, 19 RBIs, seven home runs, and a slugging percentage of .739. Reynolds has 26 hits, 17 RBIs, and three home runs this season as the leadoff hitter.
Scouting the Red Flash
Saint Francis went undefeated in conference play last season, posting a 24-0 conference record and 41-14 overall record. They also made it to the NCAA tournament. This season, they are currently 15-23 and 8-7 in the conference. Their best hitter right now is junior outfielder Savannah Nash. Nash has an OPS of 1.138, 52 hits, 29 RBIs and nine home runs.
