Planutis and Reichert Earn All-NEC Honors

3/8/2025 7:00:00 PM

Erie, Pa.- The Northeast Conference announced their men's basketball all-conference lists on Tuesday with Mercyhurst having two recipients. Graduate Student Jeff Planutis was named to the First Team and Senior Aidan Reichert was named to the Second Team.

This is third straight year that Planutis has received First Team all-conference honors. He earned the honor in the PSAC in 2022-2023 and 2023-2024. He finished this season as the top scorer for the Lakers in their first year in the NEC. His 15.5 points per game was good enough for third in the league as he finished behind just Malachi Davis of LIU and Terrence Brown of FDU. The Hazelton, Pa. native averaged 33.5 minutes per game and he was one of just seven players in the NEC to play over 1,000 minutes in the 2024-2025 season.

Planutis scored 10 or more points in all but three games in the Lakers first ever Division I campaign. He went out with a bang as he notched a season-high 32 points in Mercyhurst's final game of the season. In that game, he made a career-high 10 three pointers. It was good enough to earn NEC Player of the Week and Oscar Robertson Player of the Week honors. He officially closes his Laker career with 1,852 total points.

Reichert was named to the Second Team, and it serves as his first time earning the honor. He finished seventh overall in scoring as he averaged 13.7 points a game. That mark was second on Mercyhurst, behind Planutis. The Lakers were just one of two teams with two players in the top ten scorers in the NEC. Reichert also tallied the 11th most rebounds in the league with 162.

The senior from Jackson Center, Oh. earned NEC weekly honors six times during the season. Reichert also surpassed 1,000 points in his career for the Lakers in the 2024-2025 season as well. He finishes his Laker career with 1,350 points.
