Erie, PA- The Mercyhurst Softball team looks to bounce back after a weekend of highs and lows, beating St. Bonaventure in a doubleheader and falling in a series with LIU. The Lakers will take on Youngstown State University in a pair of non-conference games. 

Laker's Form 
Mercyhurst is currently 2-19 overall and 0-9 in the NEC. They most recently lost a conference series against LIU, with the third game ending in a run-rule. However, their double over the Bonnies this past Thursday and batting against LIU this past weekend were all signs of a Laker side who is capable of competing. Mackenzie Gillis, Eliza Reynolds, and Jazlynn Sanders all continue to be sparks of hope toward the Lakers winning more games this season. Gillis and Sanders both homered in their last few matchups. All three of the aforementioned players have eight or more RBIs and 10 or more hits this season.

Scouting the Penguins
Youngstown State is 7-26 this season and 2-5 in the Horizon League. The Penguins are coming off of a doubleheader loss to Bowling Green University after scoring 27 runs in a couple games against Niagara. YSU may look to sophomore infielder Lydia Wilkerson for her batting excellence against the Lakers. Wilkerson has 42 hits, 20 runs, and 18 RBIs this season.
