Lakers Head to Nashville for TNU Tournament Showdown

3/26/2025 10:00:00 AM

Nashville, TN – Mercyhurst Stunt is gearing up for a busy weekend, as they head to the TNU Tournament. The Lakers will take on California Baptist University on March 27th at 8:00 PM, followed by a pair of games on March 28th against the University of Central Arkansas at 1:10 PM and Hope International University at 4:40 PM. The Lakers will close out their weekend with a matchup against Missouri State University on March 29th at 10:00 AM.

Laker Outlook

Mercyhurst enters the tournament after splitting their matchups last weekend. The Lakers suffered a tough loss to MAWC opponent, the University of Kentucky, falling 22-1, but bounced back with an impressive 23-0 victory over Hiram College. With a 10-8 overall record and a 2-4 mark in conference play, Mercyhurst is looking to build on their strong performance and get back on track against a tough slate of opponents.

Several Lakers have played key roles in the team's recent performances. Jayna Phillips and Chassadi Waite were the top scorers in the dominant win over Hiram, while Kendall Stack, Chloe Johnson, Jayna Phillips, Mikayla McClain, Peyton Castonguay, Maddie Flannery, Anna Scott, and Grace Gregoire all made significant contributions in the game against the University of Kentucky.

Scouting California Baptist

California Baptist University comes into the weekend as an undefeated team, with a perfect 15-0 record. The Lancers have been dominant all season, scoring 21 or more points in every game they've played, with their closest contest being a 21-5 win over the University of Kentucky.

Scouting Central Arkansas

The University of Central Arkansas holds a 4-8 overall record and is on a three-game win streak heading into the tournament. Despite their recent success, Central Arkansas has only secured wins over Southwest Baptist, Northern Kentucky, Centenary, and Missouri State, so Mercyhurst will look to capitalize on their solid all-around play to earn a win against this MAWC opponent.

Scouting Hope International

Hope International University, though a non-conference opponent, has been impressive this season with an undefeated 23-0 record. Their closest contest came in a tight 13-12 win over Dallas Baptist University.

Scouting Missouri State

Missouri State University enters the tournament with a 7-13 overall record and a 2-3 mark in the MAWC. The Bears have struggled throughout the season, but they remain a formidable opponent for Mercyhurst.
