Lakers Cap Off Final Home Weekend

Erie, PA- Mercyhurst Stunt wrapped up their final home games of the season this weekend, securing a split in their two matchups. The Lakers fell to the University of Kentucky 22-1, but ended the weekend on a high note, dominating Hiram College 23-0 in their Senior Day matchup.

How it Happened

Game 1:

Mercyhurst's opening game of the weekend came against a powerful University of Kentucky team. Kentucky wasted no time, scoring the first four points and taking a 4-0 lead into the second quarter. The Lakers struggled to respond, and Kentucky continued to extend their advantage in the second quarter, scoring four more unanswered points, making it 8-0 at halftime. In the third quarter, Kentucky continued to control the game, adding four more points to their lead for a 12-0 advantage going into the final quarter. Mercyhurst managed to score their first point in the third round, but it was not enough as they fell 22-1.

Game 2:

Mercyhurst faced Hiram College in their Senior Day game in a much more dominant performance and quickly took control of the matchup. The Lakers opened strong, scoring four points in the first quarter for a 4-0 lead. Their momentum carried into the second quarter, where they added four more points, making it 8-0 at halftime. Mercyhurst continued to build their lead in the third quarter, adding another three points for an 11-0 advantage going into the final frame. The Lakers capped off their impressive performance with an explosive 12-point fourth quarter, keeping Hiram scoreless and finishing with a 23-0 victory.

Mercyhurst will hit the road next, traveling to Nashville, TN, to compete in the TNU Tournament beginning on Thursday, March 27th.
