Staten Island, NY- The Mercyhurst Softball team is entering conference play for the first time as a Division I team. The Lakers are prepared to face the Wagner College Seahawks in a weekend series.
Lakers Early Form
Mercyhurst is currently 0-8 on the season. They are coming off a tough outing in the Buccaneer Classic at East Tennessee State University. The team hit very well and had a great defensive game against Marist University in their second game of the trip. They may look to
Jazlynn Sanders to spark some offensive play against Wagner. The freshman first basemen has had a spectacular season so far posting seven RBIs, six hits, six runs, three doubles, two home runs, and an OPS of 1.190. Sanders performance this past week led to her being named an NEC Prime Performer.
Scouting the Seahawks
Wagner is currently 5-9 on the season. Their most recent game was a 9-1 loss to Rutgers University this past Tuesday. They have wins against teams such as Delaware State, Saint Peter's University, and North Dakota State University. The Seahawks will hope to get some offensive play from Geanice Morales. The junior infielder has 10 hits, eight runs, and two RBIs this season.
