Lakers Place Eighth at Mount Shootout

Mount Joy, Pa.- Mercyhurst got back on the hardwood this weekend as they took eighth place in the Mount Shootout. The Lakers made some waves and set a new program record for highest score in a traditional team game with a 1,108.
 
How it Happened:
In the first day of action, the Lakers kicked things off against FDU, who took a 1,058 to 985 win over Mercyhurst. The Lakers then fell to Delaware State 1,079 to 996. SHU also picked up a win over the Lakers 1,174 to 996. Mercyhurst's lone win came over Dominican in a 1,044 to 965 decision.
 
The Lakers had multiple players have solid performances at the shootout. Senior Delaney Whitehead led the way as she finished ninth overall with an average 218.40. She rolled a high of 252 in her fifth game. Delaney Rossette placed 18th overall after she rolled an average of 208.60. Nikki Lemponen had the third highest finish for the Lakers as she placed 25th with an average of 202.80.
 
In day three, Mercyhurst picked up a win over Merrimack before they took an 818 to 656 win over the Bryant. To close out the weekend, Mercyhurst took on a familiar foe in Kutztown. The Golden Bears took the victory with a 1,396 to 1,314 win as the Lakers took home the eighth place finish.
 
 
Next Match:
The Lakers will be back in action next weekend when they travel to Altoona, Pa. for the second NEC meet. The meet starts on Friday, February 14th.
