ERIE, Pa. — Mercyhurst secured an 82–61 victory over Binghamton on Saturday at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center. The Lakers led by 24 points at halftime and capitalized on the Bearcats' 16 turnovers, converting them into 20 points. Mercyhurst dominated the paint with 46 points, while the bench accounted for 31 points.
The Lakers quickly established control in the opening minutes, racing out to a 6–0 run and forcing an early Binghamton timeout. Mercyhurst continued to dictate the pace throughout the first half, as Qadir Martin scored repeatedly at the rim and pulled down defensive rebounds to help build a 20-point margin by the midway point of the half.
In the opening 20 minutes, every Laker who saw the floor scored at least one point, highlighting the team's depth and balanced offensive attack. Mykolas Ivanauskas added several layups late in the first half, and Mercyhurst carried a commanding 42–18 advantage into the break.
The Lakers maintained control to open the second half, extending the lead with strong offensive execution. Ivanauskas opened the half with a free-throw, and Christian Gamble followed with a fastbreak finish turning it into a three point play, adding a free throw to push the margin past 25 points. Kaden Fuhrmann later knocked down a pair of three-pointers during the middle portion of the half, including one off an assist from Cameron Johnson, to stretch the lead to 66–37.
Binghamton attempted to chip away with trips to the free-throw line and finishes inside, but Mercyhurst's defense remained steady. Sean Lang added two free throws in the closing minutes as the Lakers closed out the contest and secured the 82–61 win.
Martin led Mercyhurst with a career-high 20 points and 10 rebounds to record a double-double. Ivanauskas added 13 points and nine rebounds while also recording two steals. Fuhrmann finished with 17 points, connecting on four threes, and Gamble guided the offense with six assists.
