ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst Women's ACHA team hosted their annual showcase over the weekend, with their matchups set against Rowan and Delaware. The Lakers were looking to move up the regional rankings with a chance at strong competition between the 2 teams.

In the Rowan game, Victoria Campana started in net for the Lakers, her 3rd of the season.

In the 1st period, neither side was able to find the back of the net despite Rowan firing off 13 shots and Mercyhurst firing 8 of their own. Each team had their chances on the power play, but neither were able to capitalize until the 2nd period.

In the 2nd period, Marina Evert scored her 1st goal of the season at 2:20, with assists coming from Haylie Petyk and Ellie Schau. At the 10-minute mark, the Profs were able to score their 1st goal of the game despite solid defense and goaltending from the Lakers up until that point. In the final minute of the period, Rowan was able to squeak in a goal to bring the score to 2-1.

In the 3rd period, the Lakers were at a quick deficit after a roughing penalty was taken early in the period. The Lakers were able to kill the penalty and then turned that momentum into a goal by Schau at 5:33, her 4th of the season. She was assisted by Evert, her 1st assist of the season. At 11:18, Rowan tripped Evert on a breakaway that eventually was determined to warrant a penalty shot. Thanks to a beautiful backhand shot, Evert buried the goal, which was her 2nd of the year.

The Lakers would ultimately come away with the 3-2 win on home ice.

Campana stopped 40 of her 42 shots faced.

The Lakers then focused their attention on Delaware the following afternoon.

Campana got the nod for her 2nd consecutive start of the weekend against the Blue Hens.

In the 1st period, Delaware netted 3 goals within the first 3 minutes, which then prompted a goalie change by the Lakers. Katie Spindel came in for relief for Campana. This would slow the bleeding, as the Lakers only allowed 3 goals for the remainder of the period, leaving the score at 6-0 heading into the intermission.

In the 2nd period, Schau answered with her 5th goal of the season at 2:47 with the assist coming from Evert, her 2nd. At 4:59, Kylie Cushman scored her 4th goal of the season unassisted. Evert then followed up with her 3rd goal of the season with the assist coming from Haylie Petyk, her 4th assist, at 9:46. Schau then rounded out the scoring for the period with her 6th coming on the power play at 10:32 with the assist coming from Spindel, her 1st. Delaware did have a chance to answer on the power play later in the period, but were unable to capitalize. The Lakers battled back and left the score at 6-4 heading into the final period.

In the 3rd period, Delaware scored a pair of goals before the 7-minute mark. Evert then answered with her 4th goal of the season at 7:31 unassisted, as well as her 3rd goal of the game coming at 14:15 to complete the hat trick. She was assisted by Petyk, her 5th of the year. The Lakers were unable to find the back of the net for the remainder of the game while Delaware scored at 19:44, bringing the final score to 9-6.

Campana stooped 1 of her 4 shots faced, while Spindel stopped 44 of her 49 faced.

The Lakers will next travel to the Philadelphia area for the DVCHC Showcase November 21-23.
