Despite multiple penalty corners awarded to the Chargers, the Lakers' goalkeeper Louise Pert made several pivotal saves, maintaining a solid defense. However, New Haven netted their lone goal of the game six minutes into the first. The Lakers managed to generate offensive opportunities, including a shot by Ava Jones saved by the Chargers, but could not find the back of the net. The quarter concluded with the Chargers leading 1-0.
