SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Mercyhurst men's soccer team traveled to Le Moyne this afternoon in hopes of finding their second conference win of the season. They held the Dolphins to a 0-0 at the half but ultimately fell 1-0 after 90 minutes.
Mercyhurst (1-8-1, 1-3-1) began the first half maintaining a strong defensive stance, with
Gonzalo Onrubia making a crucial save in the seventh minute. The Lakers created offensive opportunities, featuring shots by
Mario Ganser and
Benjamin Buckley that were both denied. The half saw Mercyhurst earning multiple corner kicks and
Santiago Giraldo taking a shot that missed the target. Despite these efforts, the half concluded with both teams unable to capitalize on their chances, leaving the score tied at 0-0.
The second half started with a shift in momentum when Le Moyne (3-8-0, 2-2-0) broke the deadlock in the 69
th minute. The Lakers responded with multiple offensive efforts, including shots by
Alvar Silva and
Sergio Sanchez, but struggled to find the back of the net. Despite consistent pressure and several attempts on goal towards the end of the half, the Lakers were unable to alter the scoreline. The match concluded with Le Moyne maintaining their 1-0 lead.
