Lakers Gear Up for More Conference Showdowns

Teaneck, NJ – Women's Basketball is set for an action-packed week of conference matchups, facing off against FDU, Chicago State, and Le Moyne. They will travel to Teaneck, NJ, for a showdown with FDU on Saturday, February 1st at 1:00 PM. Next, they return home to host Chicago State on Thursday, February 6th at 6:00 PM, before wrapping up the week in Syracuse, NY, to challenge Le Moyne on Saturday, February 8th at 12:00 PM.

Laker Outlook 

The Lakers are riding high on a dominant three-game win streak after securing victories over Wagner (63-57) and LIU twice (78-51 and 73-58) last week. These wins have propelled them to a 4-4 record in the NEC and a 7-12 overall mark. Bailey Kuhns continues to lead the charge, averaging 20.2 points and 5.2 rebounds per game, while Jenna Van Schaik leads the Lakers in assists, averaging 2.9 per game. Earlier this month, the Lakers defeated Le Moyne 63-52 but fell to FDU 77-63. They have yet to face Chicago State. Currently, Mercyhurst sits at 5th in the NEC standings.

Scouting FDU

The Knights hold a 16-3 overall record and are undefeated in the NEC, with a 6-0 record. Ava Renninger leads FDU in points, averaging 13.4 per game. Teneisia Brown leads the team in rebounds, averaging 8.7 per game. Abaigeal Babore leads the Knights in assists, averaging 3.1 per game. FDU is ranked 1st in the current NEC standings. 

Scouting Chicago State

The Cougars currently have a 2-20 overall record and are 2-5 in the conference, after defeating LIU and Central Connecticut State. Aiyanna Culver leads the team in points and assists, averaging 14 points and 2.8 assists per game. Josie Hill leads the Cougars in rebounds, averaging 6 per game. Chicago State is ranked 8th in the current NEC standings. 

Scouting Le Moyne 

The Dolphins currently hold a 2-17 overall record and are 2-4 in the NEC, after defeating Chicago State and Stonehill. Haedyn Roberts leads Le Moyne in points and rebounds, averaging 10.7 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. Eli Clark leads the team in assists, averaging 3.1 per game. The Dolphins are ranked 6th in the current NEC standings.
