Stunt Kicks Off First Division I Season in Kentucky

Lexington, KY – Mercyhurst Stunt is set to kick off its first Division I season this weekend at the UK Tournament. They will compete in two matches on Saturday, February 1st, facing Northern Kentucky University at 9:00 AM and Missouri Baptist University at 10:00 AM. On Sunday, February 2nd, they will take on UT Martin at 12:00 PM and the University of Kentucky at 3:00 PM. 

Laker Outlook 

Mercyhurst launched its stunt program in 2024, quickly finding success. The Lakers finished with a 12-11 overall record and a 4-6 mark in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. Now, they face a new challenge as they compete at the highest level. The Lakers return several key leaders from last season, bringing valuable experience into this next chapter. Graduate student Grace Gregoire returns, alongside juniors Taylor Carpellotti, Alyssa Downey, and Kennedy Kolbert. Additionally, the team welcomes 17 freshmen, adding new talent to the roster. This season, Mercyhurst will compete in the Mid-America West Conference. 

Scouting Northern Kentucky

This season marks Northern Kentucky's inaugural season as a stunt program and they will compete in the Mid-America West Conference alongside Mercyhurst. 

Scouting Missouri Baptist 

Missouri Baptist University has a well-established stunt program, with their first season being in 2021. Last season, they finished with a 13-6 overall record and competed in the NAIA Division STUNT National Championship, defeating Ottawa University and falling to Hope International University and Vanguard University. 

Scouting UT Martin

UT Martin began their stunt program in 2023. Last season, they finished with a 5-8 overall record. They competed in the STUNT Division I National Championship, defeating Central Arkansas and falling to the University of Kentucky twice. UT Martin also competes in the Mid-America West Conference.

Scouting Kentucky

The University of Kentucky began their program in 2022 and is a member of the Mid-America West Conference. They finished with a 19-8 overall record last season. The Wildcats fell in the Division I National Title game and finished as the national runner-up for the second season in a row. 

Up Next

The Lakers will travel to North Canton, OH to compete in the Walsh Tournament as they take on Tiffin University and Trevecca Nazarene University on Friday, February 7th.
