Youngstown, Ohio – The Mercyhurst Lakers Volleyball team faced off against Youngstown State on Tuesday night, falling in three sets at the Beeghly Center.
How It Happened:
In the first set, Youngstown State took control early, jumping to a quick lead and never looking back. The Lakers managed only five kills while committing eight errors, resulting in a -.120 hitting percentage. Youngstown State capitalized on Mercyhurst's mistakes, winning the set 25-12.
The Lakers battled in the second set, putting up 11 kills and keeping the score close for much of the set. Paige Miller and Jessica Wilson added key kills, while Brice Hansen contributed with a service ace. However, Youngstown State's efficient offense, led by Dayan Malave and Abbie Householder, proved too strong as they closed out the set 25-20.
The third set opened with a service ace from Alyssa Krause, but the Penguins were able to pull away early and seal the match with a 25-14 victory.
